Asklipeion of Kos island

Kos island

Kos has many interesting places to visit. To begin with, it is the birth-place of Hippocrates, the father of Medicine. In the town of Kos you can see the famous plane-tree of Hippocrates. You can visit the Archaeological Museum, the Ancient Agora, the Ancient Odeon, the Greek and Roman Baths, the Temple of Dionyssos, Casa Romana and the impressive Roman Castle of the Knights that overlooks the harbor of the island.

Just four kilometers off Kos town is Asklepieion, a place of unaparallel natural beauty and great historical significance. Asklepieion used to be the greatest health institution in Ancient Greece, dedicated to Asklepios, the god of medicine. It was at this beautiful place that Hippocrates treated his patients. The view of the Aegean Sea from Asklepieion is stunning.
